About Jacob’s Cove
Welcome to Jacob’s Cove Heritage Farm. Located in Orem, Utah, we are working hard to provide the most natural, fresh, nutritious and delicious food to residents in Salt Lake, Utah, Summit and Wasatch Counties.
Our Farming Philosophy
Sustainability is our creed at Jacob’s Cove. We are members of the Biodynamic Farming and Gardening Association. We strongly believe in and practice sustainable agricultural procedures promoted by Rudolf Steiner and others. Healthy, vital food, whether plant or animal, begins with healthy, vital soil. We grow all our vegetables with great care for the soil. Sustainability is our top priority.
Local Natural Food
We were certified organic a few years ago but abandoned it when it became clear that it didn’t mean much. Our farms would definitely qualify for organic certification; however, we strive for the most we can possibly do to keep our soil, plants and produce alive and in balance with nature. We label our food “local natural,” which means much more than the organic label. To read more about the importance of local, natural food click here. You can read some of Dale’s thoughts on organic certification here and about our experience with certification in the past here.
Year Round Harvest
One of the most unique things to our farm is that we harvest year round! Our greenhouses have been designed with unique soil radiant heating and cooling systems. This allows us to produce heat-loving crops with warm-, cool-, and cold-loving crops in the same greenhouse during any season of the year. To see a complete list of what we grow click here.
