Little Orange Tomatoes “The tomatoes are from Jacob’s Cove, a local farm. See those cute little orange tomatoes? Those were my favorite. Next year I’m planting them in my garden.”

CSA box contents inspires a healthy, delicious mea. “OnThursday last week I got my much anticipated box of fresh produce from Jacobs Cove.  One large heirloom tomato, a bunch of small sweet orange tomatoes, cucumber, green and yellow beans, kale, carrots and I think  turnip.  I was ready to let that box of produce be my inspiration for something tasty…”  From the food blog, We Are Foodies.

Jacob’s Cove Kale Salad. The kale at Jacob’s Cove stand has the most tender and delicious leaves. You can absolutely eat them raw and they really don’t even need any massaging to soften them up.”

The Vintage Mixer visits the farm. “The most interesting thing about Jacob’s Cove is that they have several green houses in which they grow fresh produce all winter long.  Through subscribing to their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) you can enjoy the tastes of summer throughout the year without having the guilt of not knowing where your food is being shipped from to get to you.”

Support Local:  CSA with Jacob’s Cove. “For those of you who don’t know, CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s a model where you purchase a subscription, commonly known as a share, to the farm before the growing season. In return, the farmer produces food for your family. You become the “community” in Community Supported Agriculture. Each week of harvest time you receive a box of fresh, seasonal produce.”

Cjane visits the farm (Cjane’s Provo). “The cool thing is that Jacob’s Cove is a CSA–Community Supported Agriculture which means us locals can buy into this program and recieve produce like heirloom tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, carrots, a wide variety of greens, fingerling potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, beans, berries, fresh herbs and many other items.”

Cjane visits the farm (main website). “Last month we went to Jacob’s Cove one morning–really early–because I wanted to show The Chief what a creative farm looked like. Basically, Dale Allred is a genius farmer and has cultivated a plot of land to supply locally grown crops to high-end restaurants (likeCommunal and Sundance).”

Carrot-top Pesto. “My goodness, that pesto was so good. Thanks, Jacob’s Cove (for the idea and the carrot tops… and bottoms)!”
